I’ve been always fascinated by NASA’s achievements in space exploration. Their desire to understand the Universe led them to launch rockets, satellites, probes into space, and populate at least one planet with robots 🙂
The road of Do-It-Yourself space exploration led me to High-Altitude Ballooning. Compared to model rocketry, helium balloons allow to launch heavier payloads and reach higher altitude. Longer flight duration means more footage and more scientific data.
So far I’ve flown two missions:
HAB-1 mission (2014): “proof of concept” launch, kept as simple as possible.
HAB-2 mission (2015): multiple photo/video cameras, data recording from X-Ray / UV sensors.
