This year we participated in 2015 Global Balloon Space Challenge.
Mission goal:
- Launch a high-altitude balloon to 100,000 ft altitude
- Capture photo and video footage
- Measure Gamma and UV radiation levels at different altitude
- Track and recover payload
Design summary:
- Helium weather balloon
- Payload, carrying:
- Redundant cameras: one DSLR, one point-and-shoot, one HD video
- Sensor array: Geiger counter, UV, temperature, barometric pressure
- Tracking: GPS, APRS transmitter, radio beacon
- Parachute recovery
- Exempt from FAA rule 101
